Super charge your range

Increase your Swytch e-bike range with an external battery! The original Swytch bike conversions are fantastic, and the newer generation 3 is a very nice solution. Although conveniently lightweight, the company's battery options don't provide much range. This kit allows any 36V third party battery to be used instead. You can increase the range compared to the Air, Max (and even the more expensive GO) batteries offered by Swytch, and typically at a lower cost. The bike remains fully legal in the UK, as the maximum 15.5 mph speed and 250W motor power are not altered. The kit consists of the connection device only. The Handlebar Mount for AIR/MAX in the photos is only shown to help explain the fitting. The handlebar mount or 36V battery are NOT included.

Compatability

This kit is only for the Gen 3 version of Swytch, shown in the photos, NOT the earlier gen 2 'handbag'version. the adapter uses the Gen 3 Swytch mount (not supplied). Battery mounting is specific to your bike and choice of battery. Some users have reported improved handling, as the weigth of the battery is no longer on the handlebars.

Installation

This 3D-printed device securely replaces the Air or Max battery, utilizing the same electrical contacts, and features a lead to connect to an external battery. Simply remove the adapter to revert back to your Swytch battery at any time.

Construction

Supplied cases are 3D printed in a durable black PET-G plastic (with 10% carbon fibre) and a yellow TPU connector support. As the adapter parts are 3D-printed, they exhibit fine 'layer lines' on the surface: visible in the photographs. This is a result of the manufacturing process and is not a fault.

Technical specification

Please note that this will require some DIY knowledge to re-wire to an external 36V battery: though it's just the two (positive and negative) wires. Just make sure the wires are the right way round if the XT60 connector is not used! If you fitted a Swytch kit yourself, then you can easily fit this adapter. Units are supplied with an XT60 connectors and has a 1.5m cable length. Ensure any third party 36V battery is from a reputable source has appropriate battery management (BMS).

Re-Cycle your system

Upgrade your Swytch e-bike with a new battery! Our kit allows you to use a replacement 36V battery from a third party (if your original is dead or a different battery capacity is preferred to increase range). The three-piece, 3D-printed case kit houses the original user control pad and motor controller, utilising the original handlebar-mounted connector, original Swytch wiring and motor.

Tech Transformation

The kit consists of two 3D-printed parts (front and back casing, with threaded inserts and screws), an additional contoller support plate and a cable gland. The other components in the photos are shown to help explain the construction, so these parts and the battery are not included in the package. The Swytch parts must be salvaged from the original 'handbag' case.

Innovative Solutions

Supplied cases are in BLACK PETG-CF plastic (PETG + 10% carbon fibre). The bike conversion remains fully legal in the UK since its maximum 15.5 mph speed and 250W motor power do not change and all original Swytch parts are re-purposed. The kit parts are 3D printed, so exhibit 'layer lines' on the surface, shown on the photographs. The lines result from the manufacturing process and are not a fault.

Functional Design

This kit is only for the original 'handbag' version of Swytch shown in the photos (NOT Swytch's newer GO/AIR variant). Please note that the conversion does require enough DIY ability to extract the controller from the 'handbag' case and re-connect to a new external 36V battery. The unit is supplied with a XT60 battery connectors only, NO BATTERY is supplied.

Custom Creations

The position for mouting the battery will depend on the bike and battery type. In most cases, the handling of the bike is improved by elminating the weight of the battery swinging around on the handlebars and positioning it on the fixed frame and lower to the ground.
